Today, the International Council for Small Business (ICSB) announces a new social media presence. On behalf of the ICSB community, the International Office has initiated dialogue on popular social media websites such as Facebook, MySpace and Twitter. These newly founded web 2.0 pages will now require the support of our entire ICSB global community as we move forward in the digital arena! We encourage all to join and to contribute original and unique content that will have a tremendous impact on the visibility of our organization. The global conversation on small business and entrepreneurship is an ongoing discussion and it is becoming increasingly important that ICSB has a say.
One of the main goals associated with this launch into social media is our desire to hear directly from you! While we will continue to post videos, pictures and messages related to the ICSB on each of the respective pages, it takes the insight of our membership to create a truly rich experience. Blogs and Online Communities offer researchers, educators, practitioners, policy experts and small businesses a unique opportunity to interact and learn from their colleagues on many levels. As evidenced by past and future ICSB World Conferences, the people of ICSB stand as the cornerstone of this organization. Your opinions and feelings on subjects directly and indirectly related to small business and entrepreneurship are encouraged and desired.

A social media strategy like the one we are currently launching also provides a great benefit to our main web portal at http://www.icsb.org/. In addition to cross-promotion initiatives and headline news articles that will feature on each site, the ICSB will now experience greater visibility in related internet searches. Social Media Optimization (SMO), the term used by many of the experts is a concept that revolves around implementing changes to a website that will result in increased linkability, higher visibility in custom search engines and social media related searches and a higher frequency of mentions in relevant blogs and podcasts.
Together we can work to increase the impact of ICSB and its affiliates on the global community. As a result, we will experience the tangible and intangible benefits social media holds for our membership. Please Join now and blog away!
Sincerely Yours,
Dr. Charles H. Matthews, ICSB President |
