Visa's Security Summits have become the premier event focused on payment security. Previous Summits, held in 2005 and 2007, brought together hundreds of businesses, government and academic experts. Attendees have given both conferences high ratings in the quality of speakers and panelists and relevance of topics. The 2005 Summit featured a keynote address by former New York City Mayor, Rudy Giuliani, and the 2007 Summit keynote address was given by Meg Whitman, then CEO of eBay. Other conference topics at the 2009 Visa Global Security Summit included:

  • Innovations in Payment Security
Data thieves are increasingly sophisticated in targeting card information – both stored and in motion and the impact affects all payment system stakeholders. This panel explored what the industry must do to reduce the storage of data including compliance with the PCI DSS, but also how to make data unusable to the criminals through innovations such as authentication and encryption.
  • Payment Security: The State of Global Business Readiness; Presented byThe Economist Intelligence Unit
Are global companies ready for the security challenges and opportunities presented by the increase in electronic payments? The Economist unveiled a new global study of the world's executives that will explore how the C-Suite prioritizes payment security and the level of their preparedness. The panel discussion will be the culmination of executive roundtables held in Russia, Singapore, Brazil and Mexico.
  • Meet the Experts on Cyber-Crimes and Computer Intrusions
To solve a problem, one must first understand it. This panel of former data hackers and the law enforcement professionals who track them provided a rare glimpse into the mind and motives of today's data thieves. The panel explored the latest hacker techniques and the ongoing race for law enforcement and the industry to keep pace.
  • David DeWalt, Chief Executive Officer and President of McAfee, Inc. presented the keynote address.
