ECSB and ICSB announce the activation of a new wiki, dedicated to entrepreneurship and small business scholars and practitioners. As an extension of the ICSB's global mission, the wiki represents a first step in developing the potential of Internet-enabled collaboration to foster interaction among a worldwide membership, and build the world's richest on-line community on entrepreneurship and small business studies.
It takes just a few minutes to join, and once registered, members can edit almost any content in an unsupervised, peer-to-peer, open-source fashion. For example, users can add or improve definitions in the encyclopedia, start collaborative activities in workspaces, add relevant links, promote events, and create their own personal blog pages. Just go to the "request an account" page and fill out a short form; http://www.icsb.org/wiki/index.php?title=Special:RequestAccount. Upon completion, you will receive a timely email confirmation.
A wiki appears like a web site, but the difference is that it is made entirely by its users. Currently the following sections are open;
-
Entrepreneurshipedia: an open encyclopedia about entrepreneurship and small business management created by users.
-
Workspaces: collaborative pages for activities like writing a paper or a research proposal
-
External links: a useful list of relevant links to journals, research centers, academic and professional associations in the field
- Current events: a list of upcoming events organized and promoted by
the community
The wiki is still in it's development phase now, but will be rich with content in no time thanks to the contributions of members, who will be actively involved. The wiki is also very easy to use for people who are not confident with this kind of internet tool. It takes few minutes to learn the basics through the help page http://www.icsb.org/wiki/index.php?title=Help:Contents.
ICSB and ECSB are also looking for a group of volunteers who are willing to be community moderators. Moderators will have greater usage rights than registered users, like the possibility to cancel a page, and their task will be to help with content management and supervision. If you are interested, please send an email to Luca Iandoli (luca.iandoli@unina.it)
We hope you will join us soon.
