ICSB 2007 World Conference

The ICSB 2007 World conference was hosted by the Turku School of Economics in Turku, Finland and co-organized by the ECSB.

The theme for the conference was:

"At the Crossroads of East and West: New Opportunities for Entrepreneurship and Small Business"

Despite its remote Northern location, Finland has been successful in giving birth to world-class companies like Nokia and other technology- and knowledge-driven companies,
and hence it offered an excellent location for discussions on opportunities emerging from technology, knowledge and innovation for entrepreneurship and small business.

Historically, Finland has been part of both Sweden and Russia and in its position between east and west, which are becoming increasingly united with growing globalisation and international trade, and with the enlargement of the EU and other forms of co-operation, it offered a brilliant opportunity for discussing the impacts of globalisation and increasing international co-operation on entrepreneurship and small business.

Due to its long and colourful past, there are many attractions of historical importance for visitors. The Cathedral and Turku Castle, both dating back to the 13th century, have played an important role in the history of the city.
