ICSB 2003 World Conference

The 48th ICSB World Conference was held in Belfast, Northern Ireland from June 15-18 2003 and attracted more than 1,000 participants from over 70 countries. In addition to 24 VIP plenary speakers, there were over 350 papers in over 100 Mini-Conference and Workshop sessions in three venues. The Welcome Reception at Parliament Buildings, Stormont, the Irish Night at the Europa and the Civic Reception and Gala Dinner were all very popular, with traditional Irish music playing throughout.

On the day prior to the Conference, the ICSB Board hosted the first ever joint meeting with the Governing Body of WASME, the World Association of SMEs based in India, which represents developing countries.
Chairman of the Conference Steering Committee, professor Ken O’Neill commented as the conference ended, that 'This event did an extraordinary job promoting Belfast and Northern Ireland as the place to be for the latest in entrepreneurship and small business knowledge, experience and best practice.”
The world-wide response in terms of Speakers and Delegates was also very gratifying. The event completely justified the original support of major sponsors, Invest NI, Belfast City Council and the University of Ulster. We were particularly grateful for additional sponsorship from InterTrade Ireland, Edge plc, Enterprise Ireland, Scottish Enterprise, Small Business Service, Welsh Development Agency, BT Northern Ireland and Galway Irish Crystal.
